After getting lost and just driving around a bit, I’m like, “Yes! I’m coming back to Gowanus for COUPLE PORTRAITS!!” That’s how impressed I was by this little neighborhood in Brooklyn. Have you been there yet? It’s an eclectic area, very interesting. Some parts are very residential but there are many blocks that look industrial with warehouses and such.
There are some great places to get married in Gowanus
The Green Building and 501 Union are sister venues, each with their own unique vibe. They’re actually owned by the same organization, and across the road from each other. I literally was walking along with this couple just doing our portraits, when we ended up right in front of 501 Union. They were closed but I had to get some portraits of them right out front 🙂
Gowanus has interesting spots for couple portraits
Once you’re off the slightly beaten path, you’ll find interesting warehouses and factories in Gowanus. We came upon this area and I just loved the colors and the soft light. We were just a few blocks from a quiet waterfront area.
These were all shot on film with a medium format camera.
And here are some great blog posts you might enjoy: Juneteenth Wedding in NYC, New event space — Chelsea Factory, Editorial portraits in Prospect Park, and Greenwich Village engagement photos.
