Headshots in NYC on Film | Wendy G Photography

If you’re an actor, singer, musician, or just need some great photos for your website, Contact me! I’m right here in NYC doing headshots and all sorts of individual portraits.

Portraits of Singer

Ivory MCDonald is a gifted Christian Gospel Singer. She’s already recorded two albums and is a beloved worship leader. These are some headshots taken right in my at home studio in NYC. I really wanted to focus on her face, her sense of fashion, and her personality. I loved that she showed up in a flattering outfit that provided some options. And her jewelry was just right — not too loud but not invisible either.

NYC Headshots

The one really important element of headshots is that you see the person. And for branding portraits, it’s important to see a bit of their personality. Each industry has its own standards for headshots but basically you either want to show off what a beautiful canvas you are or display yourself. I like to do bit of both when working with clients because you never know when one particular photo can be used for some other type of project or online profile.

Studio Headshots

As I mentioned, Ivory’s headshots were all done in my NYC studio. Using various backdrops and studio lighting, I’m able to capture a wide variety of looks. So based on what she was wearing, I decided to go with a cool-tone, dark grey fabric backdrop. I really wanted her fun hair color to pop. And the cool tone dark grey behind her was perfect. I also used Kodak Film. If you’ve been following me, you already know that I’m a big fan of analog photography. And studio portraits done on film are just so, so gorgeous. The skin becomes so smooth and even retouching isn’t even needed.
