NYC Micro Wedding

What a brilliant idea! Have a beautiful garden wedding, then go to DUMBO for edgy portraits. I love everything about this small, intimate wedding. NYC has endless options for weddings of all sizes. But the NYC Micro Wedding has the advantage of being small, flexible, lean and mean!

Conservatory Garden Wedding in Central Park

The Conservatory Garden in Central Park is just stunning — especially in the summer. It has multiple, beautiful little spots perfect for a small, brief wedding ceremony. I say small because these little spots are just that, little spots. And I say brief because there aren’t many places for guests to sit down so….. keep it simple, keep it brief. The lush, green area beyond the Conservatory Fountain is a hidden gem of a spot. It’s covered with leaves and vines so it’s not quite so hot on those hot days. And because it’s a bit hidden, there won’t be so many rando people milling around while you’re sharing your very important vows — and they won’t randomly show up in your photos 🙂

NYC Micro Wedding Venues in the Conservatory Garden

There are multiple, perfect venues for your micro wedding within the Conservatory Garden. As you initially enter through the Vanderbilt Gate and descend those stairs (breathtaking view!), on your left are pathways that eventually lead to the North Garden and the Burnett Fountain. This is a gorgeous English garden that has a slightly wild but beautiful vibe; so of course it’s the preferred location for many couples. And the Untermyer Fountain is the centerpiece of the North Garden. This is a French-styled garden with the Untermyer Fountain in the center. And finally, this wedding was in the lovely Wisteria Pergola Garden, just beyond the Conservatory Fountain. The Wisteria Pergola is an Italian influenced garden with a semi-circular walkway.

Tea Length Wedding Dress Style

Aren’t they so cute? He’s so at home in his dress uniform and she is simply stunning in her gown! I love the tea length for micro weddings. One of the hardest parts for you in picking out your wedding dress is knowing how the dress relates to overall feel of the day. And for a micro wedding in NYC, being able to move freely is a must. Long bridal trains and layers upon layers of fabric are just frustrating when you need to hop in and out of cabs, take a 10 minute stroll, or just move about. Belinda did an excellent job going for this classic silhouette tea-length dress. And her belt? It set nicely mirrors Craig’s belt on his uniform. They really put their looks together nicely 🙂

DUMBO Wedding Photos

Another brilliant idea was to go over to Brooklyn and get some photos in DUMBO. After the lush greenery of the Conservatory Garden for the ceremony and their initial set of portraits, going to the cityscape of DUMBO for more wedding photos was perfect. Thus the beauty of a micro wedding in NYC! Hop in a cab and go hang out in another borough for more cool portraits.

Free Yourself and Have a Micro Wedding in NYC

I was just telling someone earlier today that sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is to say, “No.” Set yourself free from doing what other people say you “should” do or “have to” do for your wedding day. Make it what you want it to be. Belinda and Craig made their wedding day special because it fully repped who THEY are, not somebody else’s version of them.
