Unique Event Space in NYC at Chelsea Factory

Have you ever just wanted to see a space completely transformed? Well I made the delightful discovery of a beautiful and unique event space in NYC called Chelsea Factory. It’s a newly renovated Arts and Community Center. This landmark building is originally from 1914 and in recent years was the home of a contemporary ballet dance company and the studio for photographer Annie Leibovitz.

Blank canvas factory event space

I love the raw elements! Chelsea Factory has 2 main large event areas and I was able to experience them both at this gala. The larger space is like a big black box. But don’t let that scare you! The lighting team was on point and created some of the most beautiful lighting effects I’ve seen in any event space. And because it truly is a blank canvas, your event designer has unlimited options to recreate your vision. The other space was used for the cocktail hour and has exposed brick. And with polished cement floors everywhere, you won’t have to compete with some carpet’s colors or drapes or someone else’s design aesthetic.

Chelsea Factory supports the arts

What makes it such a unique event space in NYC is how it provides space for artists and for the outside community to have catered events. Artists can rehearse, record podcasts, do spoken word and other live performances. And revenue from large events helps to support the artists. I love this! It’s some type of cool melding together of corporate and private and artistic endeavors.

Artistic design transforms and elevates an event space

If you’re planning your wedding, I encourage you to do this one thing: hire someone to design your event space. You’ll have your amazing vision with colors and fabrics and a mood board and pins on Pinterest, etc. But that means nothing without experience and know-how in actually creating it. Believe me, professionals who design event spaces know just where to source each item: flowers, candles, tablecloths, napkins, and the structural elements. And of course, they know how to put it all together beautifully. It really makes a huge difference.

Chelsea Factory is the newest unique event space in NYC

They just opened in the Fall of 2021 in response to the loss of opportunities for artists during the pandemic. Obviously it’s a wonderful venue for weddings but also corporate events, galas, fundraisers, etc. And if you’re like me and enjoy supporting the arts, having your wedding there or some other event is a great way to support real live artists through their organizations.

Are you looking for a space in NYC for your wedding or some other event? Check out Chelsea Factory for something beautiful and unique! The event design was done by the brilliant Marc Wilson from The Style Marc. The DJ who handled cocktail hour as well as the main event was the female phenom Natasha Diggs. And the annual gala was celebrating the dancer, choreographer and innovator Bill T. Jones and his New York Live Arts.
